Greenworks Snow Blower Review: Two 60V Single-Stage Models Compared
The Greenworks 60V 20-Inch Single-Stage is the one I'd pick first of the two Greenworks models here, because its kit includes one 60V 5.0 Ah battery and a charger and it weighs 38.68 lb with the battery. Its tool and battery warranty is 4 years.

The Greenworks 60V 22-Inch Single-Stage clears the bigger path: 22 in wide and 13 in deep, with a 30 ft maximum discharge distance. One note on what's in the box. On Greenworks' own page it's tool only; the Amazon listing this site links to is a kit that, by its title, includes two 5.0Ah batteries and a dual port charger. This review covers these two 60V single-stage models and nothing else.

The Greenworks 60V 20-Inch Single-Stage suits you if you want the battery and charger in the box: the kit includes one 60V 5.0 Ah battery and a charger. It weighs 38.68 lb with the battery and 34.4 lb without it. The 22-inch has no weight figure at all, so this is the one whose weight you know before you buy.
Greenworks rates it for up to 30 minutes of run time on a single charge, up to a 6-car driveway per charge and snowfalls up to 10 in. The 22-inch has no run time per charge to set beside that.
Here's what you give up. The path is 20 in wide, 2 in narrower than the 22-inch's, and the throw is 20 or 22 ft against a 30 ft maximum. The impeller is poly where the 22-inch's is heavy-duty steel with a rubber pad.
The other features are straightforward: a brushless motor, push-button start, LED headlights and a chute that rotates 180 degrees. It isn't self-propelled.
Buy it if you want a battery and charger in the kit and a machine whose weight, 38.68 lb with the battery, you know up front.
Skip it if you want the 22 in path and 30 ft maximum discharge of the 22-inch, or the 60V battery you already own is the 8.0 Ah.

The Greenworks 60V 22-Inch Single-Stage suits you if path and throw matter most to you. It clears 22 in wide and 13 in deep, 2 in wider than the 20-inch, and that depth is above both depth figures for the 20-inch, 10 in and 12 in.
Throw goes the same way. Its 30 ft maximum discharge distance tops both figures for the 20-inch, 20 ft and 22 ft.
The hardware differs too. It has a dual battery port with auto-switchover, and its impeller is heavy-duty steel with a rubber pad where the 20-inch uses poly. The chute rotates up to 180 degrees and is set with a handle-mounted lever.
You also get dual LED lights, push-button start, a brushless motor and 8 in rear wheels. The handle doesn't fold.
Now the gap in the data. Greenworks' page lists it as tool only, with 60V batteries and a charger sold separately, while the Amazon listing this site links to is a kit whose title says two 5.0Ah batteries and a dual port charger are included. There's no weight, no run time per charge and no charge time figure. So you know how wide it clears, but not what it weighs or how long it runs.
Buy it if you want the 22 in by 13 in path and the 30 ft maximum discharge, either as the Amazon kit this site links to or tool only, as Greenworks' own page has it.
Skip it if you want a weight and a run time in writing before you buy.

How to choose
Choose between these two Greenworks models on five things: clearing width and depth, throw distance, weight, battery and run time, and warranty. If your driveway is gravel, stop here: Greenworks does not recommend using its single-stage snow throwers on gravel surfaces.
Clearing width and depth
The 22-inch clears the larger path, 22 in wide and 13 in deep. The 20-inch clears 20 in wide, and its depth is 10 in or 12 in, depending on which of its two figures you go by.
Width is the cleaner comparison, because both models have a single figure for it. If the wider path is why you're shopping, the 22-inch is the one to look at.
Throw distance
The 22-inch throws farther: 30 ft against 20 ft or 22 ft for the 20-inch. Keep in mind that 30 ft is a maximum.
Greenworks says the 22-inch's auger can be adjusted to control how far the snow is thrown: a lower auger speed usually means a smaller throwing distance and more control, while a higher speed throws the snow further. On direction, the 20-inch's chute rotates 180 degrees and the 22-inch's up to 180 degrees.
Weight
Weight is a known number for one of the two: the 20-inch is 38.68 lb with the battery and 34.4 lb without it. There's no weight figure for the 22-inch, so I can't tell you which is lighter.
If there are steps between your garage and the driveway, that's the number you'd want to see. For the 22-inch it isn't there.
Battery and run time
The 20-inch comes with one 60V 5.0 Ah battery and a charger in the kit. The 22-inch has a dual battery port with auto-switchover; on Greenworks' own page it's tool only, while the Amazon listing this site links to is a kit that, by its title, includes two 5.0Ah batteries and a dual port charger.
Only Greenworks batteries, chargers and machines of the same voltage are compatible with one another, and a higher Ah rating gives more run time. The 20-inch is not compatible with the 60V 8.0 Ah battery. Either way, you're buying into a 60V platform that powers over 75 Greenworks 60-volt tools.
The 20-inch has two charge time figures: up to 150 minutes in the specifications, and 50 min with the included charger in the product summary. The 22-inch has no charge time figure.
Warranty
Warranty runs 4 years on both, with a difference in what it names. The 20-inch's 4 years covers the tool and the battery. The 22-inch's 4 years is a tool warranty.
One part sits outside that on the 22-inch. Its skid shoes are wearable parts and carry a 90-day warranty against wear and tear.
FAQ
How long does the Greenworks 60V 20-Inch Single-Stage run on a charge?
The Greenworks 60V 20-Inch Single-Stage runs up to 30 minutes on a single charge by Greenworks' figure, and Greenworks adds that run time depends on the load and will fluctuate. The area cleared is given as 225m² for 4 in of snow and 45m² for 10 in. There's no run time per charge for the 22-inch.
Does a cold battery affect the Greenworks 60V 22-Inch Single-Stage?
Yes, a cold battery can affect the Greenworks 60V 22-Inch Single-Stage: the tool may not start properly if the battery is too cold. Greenworks advises using a battery stored at room temperature.
Voltage output may also be reduced if the battery's internal temperature drops below -17°C. A cold battery brought indoors should warm up in no more than 10-20 minutes. Batteries and chargers should always be stored indoors at room temperature.
Can the Greenworks 60V 22-Inch Single-Stage be used on a slope?
Yes, the Greenworks 60V 22-Inch Single-Stage can be operated on slopes or hills, with extreme caution. The wheels on Greenworks' single-stage snow thrower models are not designed for use with tire chains, so don't plan on adding them.
How do you clear a clogged chute on the Greenworks 60V 22-Inch Single-Stage?
Turn the machine off, wait at least 10 seconds for it to stop, and clear the clog with a chute-clearing brush or similar object. A brush is not included, so have one on hand before the first storm.
